Frequently asked questions
Can I convert a scan?
Not directly yet. A scan is a picture of a page with no text inside, so there is nothing to convert. Run OCR PDF first to add a text layer, then convert it here.
Will formatting stay the same?
With Preserve layout on, we rebuild page size, margins, fonts, tables, images, headers and page breaks; multi-column pages may come out as one column and scans need OCR first. With it off, on this device we keep the text, paragraphs and headings so you can edit them, but not images, columns or exact layout. Check tables and formatting after conversion.
How are my files handled?
With Preserve layout on, your PDF is sent to our server, converted, and removed straight after: the Word file is deleted once you download it, and anything not downloaded within 10 minutes. With it off, the PDF is converted in your browser and never uploaded.
